After missing a year of parading Sitka’s 4th of July parade was back this year. This is the first tranche of photos of the parade. It’s good to see your friends marching down the street, waving and chatting. For me the highlights in the first half of the parade were when the Coast Guard broke ranks (not that they were very much in step anyway) to shake hands and greet tribal elder Herman Davis, a Marine Corps vet watching from his wheelchair. Of course the Coast Guard always gets a big cheer. Another highlight was the ladies in their walkers throwing candy to the kids and, of course, I am always happy to see that Sitka’s antique fire truck is still running under its own power. Here is Tranche 1.
