This was the type of shore day I’ve been waiting for. Get off the ship, wander for a few hours, and get back on, take a nap. Nothing special, nothing extraordinary to process afterwards (Although I love it when that happens, and it happens to us a lot!). Just a lazy day of strolling a port where we’ve been before.
And we’ve been to Isafjordur before. In the past we visited the fish processing plant and the waterfall. Today was a relaxing wander, looking for nothing, seeing lots.
What did we see? Outside the culture center there is a bouncy, well it isn’t a castle, but kind of a pad. People of all ages were bouncing. The fisherman’s memorial has a fresh floral anchor for someone who died at sea 70 year ago and still remembered. There is a zebra striped pedestrian crossing painted to look 3D. We saw a gaggle of kids on their school lunch break rounded up by a teacher who herded back for afternoon classes. There is Rainbow Square. Many Icelandic towns have a feature named to show their support for the LGBTQ+ community. I browsed the bookstore looking at all the titles that had been translated into Icelandic. A couple of hours of wander and wonder and then back for a nap.
Here is a gallery of photos with other interesting things we saw labeled.

One other thing. When we got off the ship we got a city map with a reminder that this was a real town and not a museum. It asked us “dear guests” not to stare into or take pictures through windows into people’s homes. Seems Reasonable.
