We have one more port and six sea days after that left in this cruise. In other words, a whole seven day cruise ahead of us. Yet today we got our disembarkation letter, we have to select our time to leave the ship on April 7. We also got a letter from luggage forward telling us how to prepare our luggage to be shipped home.
I spent part of the day on zoom with the Executive Director of an NGO of which I am board chair about what I will be spending time doing when I get home. Our steep driveway in Sitka has three feet of ice on it, it hasn’t been shoveled and it snowed again today. This is completely wrong for Sitka but it is how it is, so we made arrangements to rent a car and get a hotel room for when we land at midnight so we can work on straightening out in the daylight and perhaps give it a few more days to melt.
I’ve made medical appointments for some deferred maintenance when I get home and we have had notes from our tax accountant. In other words this cruise is winding down.
But I can’t let the concerns of a week from now take away from the moment. Tonight we had such a moment.Â
Red Sky at Night, Sailors’ Delight.
We sat on the aft deck for nearly an hour as a remarkable sunset progressed to a spectacular climax before sinking into darkness and the sea.

Rich, those pictures were one for the ages. Thanks for sharing.
Those sunset pics are fabulous!
