Budva is a walled city on the Adriatic. We first visited here in 1972, shortly after it was leveled by an Earthquake. You can see cracks in the city walls and in some of the buildings. Some of the cracks have been filled in; repaired but are still visible. When we returned to Budva in the late 1990s some of the buildings were rebuilt but we could still see the numbers on the stones. The stones on damaged buildings were numbered, taken down, and then replaced as the building was rebuilt. In it’s history this city was Phoenician, Greek, Roman,
Turkish, Venetian, Austrian and Montenegrin.
