Life Along the Big River

We left the Amazon about a week ago but I am still sorting pictures and sifting through my thoughts. This is a photo gallery will remind me of an area where the river rises annually and people build houses to accommodate that, except when the river rises too high or too fast. I suspect those structures are designed to be abandoned. I took these pictures over most days of the trip. The goats on one riverfront farm have taken refuge on the famer’s front porch.

These buildings are from Santarėm. I took some from Volendam and some from Gil Serique’s boat.
