Kotor is a World Heritage Site. It is a walled city that had been part of the Venetian Republic, and then part of Austria until the end of the First World War when it became part of Yugoslavia, and then Montenegro. It is at the head of the Med’s longest and deepest fjord. IREX sponsored its summer journalism school in Kotor for 7 years and I got to spend part of 7 summers, and a couple of autumns (We had a second session some Octobers) in the vicinity of this wonderful city.
