Sea Lions, Puffins and Bears, Why Not? South Marble Island in Glacier Bay.

We encountered some rough weather sailing down the bay and Captain Eric was not sure we would be able to make a close pass by South Marble Island, which is a sea lion rookery and home to sea birds, including the charismatic puffin.  But as we ducked behind the shelter of the island, we were able to get a good look at the Sea Lions and seabirds roosting on the island’s rocks.

I am throwing in a couple of pictures of a bear along the shores of Glacier Bay in this tranche of photos.  Why not?

We stopped at Bartlett Cove to allow us to touch land and stretch out before heading out into Icy Strait which was rough.  The captain decided to anchor up in Auke Bay north of Juneau for the night.
