Every June my hometown, Sitka, becomes alive with the arts. Both the Sitka Music Festival and Sitka Fine Arts camp bring people from all over the Country to our little town. We have performances and parties all month. This year was particularly busy because we had grandchildren here for the arts camp.
We missed the first week of the festival. We were on a cruise. We also missed some of the concerts because they conflicted with performances by grandkids at the camp.
But what we did attend was spectacular. Mark and Maggie O’Conner added Americana Roots music to the festival. Danielle Talamantes and Kerry Wilkerson were the first vocalists to join the lineup, and we enjoyed visiting with music friends from past festivals, especially Helen Kim and Natasha Paremski. Zuill Bailey, the artistic director, pulls it all together.
Here is a photo gallery from this year’s festival.
