Home Port

Simons Town sits on the peninsula that ends in the Cape of Good Hope.   It was home port for one of the British fleets that patrolled the critical waters where the Atlantic and Indian Oceans met, a sheltered port in an area of storms and fog.  Then it became a South African Navy town, and still is.  It is a mix of Victorian and Dutch Colonial architecture and is a delightful place.  Just below Simons Town is a whole colony of penguins.
