I wrote about Palm Sunday and music in Paria 202in an earlier post. I don’t have much to add except that the city has spruced up a lot in the last 7 years, with new paint and continued restoration of buildings. On July 5 Street (July 5, 1975 is the country’s independence day. They celebrate 50 years this year) the bushes that were small have grown and a topiary crew is trimming them to provide shade, a nice new touch.

And one final comment. Why can a poor nation like Cabo Verde afford modern, high speed ferries between islands (see below) when a wealthy state like Alaska…. Well, I fear I know the answer.
