Termination Dust, TD, generally appears on the coastal peaks sometime in October. TD is the first dusting of snow. It is called that because the appearance of snow means the end of summer jobs. When we arrived on October 1 there was no snow on the coastal peaks, Verstovia, Mt. Edgecumbe, Anahootz, and The Sisters. According to some friends, there was an ever so light dusting in late September, but it was gone when we landed.
On Alaska day I saw my first TD, not on Verstovia, Edgecumbe or the Sisters, but further inland along Silver Bay, on Bear Mountain.

After Alaska Day the clouds closed in but a few days later, when we could see the mountain tops, they pretty much all had snow on the peaks. Even Edgecumbe, on the very outside, had a snow cap.

Stunning photos of so many mountains. Enlarged and enjoyed each one. . . Aloha!
