Every year at Halloween Lincoln Street closes down and then opens up. Barricades go up to stop cars and, for two hours, the streets welcome tricksters and treaters. Stores offer treats to costumed wayfarers. And while there are lots of kids there are also plenty of adults. Because of the rain, there are fewer tricksters looking for treats than in past years. This was confirmed by some of the storekeepers who have handed out candy for years.

Traditionally at 5PM dancers show up in front of the cathedral and start dancing. The first time it happened, it was a surprise, a real flashmob. Now people expect it so I am not sure you can call it a flashmob. So, at 5 PM, I stand in front of the cathedral, in the rain, and enjoy the kids’ energy.
