Here Comes the Sun

To Northerners like me the Solstice is an essential holiday.  For me Solstice marks the New Year more than January 1.  I have rituals to mark the turning of the season.   This year it was a bonfire, a swim in the sea, parties with friends and taking pictures of the Solstice sunset.  Tonight is the longest night of the year.  By Christmas we may notice the days are a little longer.  By January 1 we certainly will notice that sunset is 8 minutes later.  We celebrate many holidays at this time of year but Solstice came first.  It is the reason for the season with other reasons grafted on.  It is the promise of light on the darkest and longest night of the year.

Rejoice!

Here Comes the Sun
